9 weeks and counting…

…well – almost!

img_0635

This coming Monday will be exactly 9 weeks ’til the due date. I know it’s wishful thinking to have the baby on time, but I thought I’d just mention it. Still, things are good. The check-up yesterday went well. Our awesome doctor did another ultrasound and baby is still head down (he’s been this way for 3 weeks), but was facing backwards so we couldn’t see his face.

We return every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, when I think we go back every week. I can’t believe how fast time flies. It seems like we were just there for our very first ultrasound and meeting with the doctor at 9 weeks!

We’ve got a lot to do between now and May, including finishing up the nursery. Brad painted last weekend, and we have to finish the trim and organize the furniture this weekend. We’re still on a hunt for a good rocking chair / glider. One we really like is by Best Chairs. It’s similar to this one:

We like it a lot, but we’re going to keep looking, just in case we find something else we prefer.

This place looks yummy

huckleberry

I really want to try this place. It’s the same people who work at Rustic Canyon which I really enjoyed. I’m drawn to Huckleberry because 1) their menu looks delicious, 2) it’s close to home and 3) I’m a sucker for pastries. Not only do their pastries look good, they offer lunch too. I think they’re opening this week, so I’ll probably wait a month or so before trying, or just step in for a coffee and a treat.

I love lemonade.

And I really miss it. Driving to work today I was thinking of treating myself to a nice cold glass of fresh squeezed lemonade this afternoon. Unfortunately, it’s not worth the awful heartburn associated with it. So, I’ll just look at this photo and dream of sipping a nice tall glass (or two) this summer.

UCLA Medical Center

I’ve been saying for a while now (6 months exactly), that we really lucked out with UCLA Medical Center. The care and attention we’ve received since going there has been phenomenal.

I picked my OB from a random list in our insurance book and he has proven to be the most caring and supportive doctor I’ve ever seen. Last week I remembered that I could e-mail him with any concerns, which I did. I sent an e-mail to him at 4:15pm regarding the awful acid reflux I was experiencing. At 4:35pm, there was a response from my him in my inbox with answers to my questions. How brilliant is that? 20 minutes! That’s how short the time was before I got an answer. Amazing! Even though I have a check-up with him this week, I just wanted to know if I could take some over the counter medicine to stop the pain in my chest. Blows me away!

On Friday night, I had a bit of a scare which landed us in the ER. We arrived at UCLA around 1am, and were whisked away to Labor and Delivery. Within a short time, they had me hooked up to a contractions monitor and my belly to a fetal monitor. Everything checked out fine. Baby is fine, I’m fine, the awesome doctors and nurses observed me overnight to make sure. I’m supposed to slow down and take things a bit easier. Get lots of rest and drink lots of water. I know I’ve been working quite a lot recently, but this was my wake up call.

Anyway – at the end of the day: UCLA Medical Center, the doctors and the nurses are all awesome. They make me feel safe and have the unborn child and my best interests as their priority. Thank you!

My new favorite product.

F.Y…eye! by Benefit. It seriously does what it’s supposed to do. I wasn’t expecting much because usually these things are just gimmicks, but I had to give it a try. Hallelujah! No more smudged eye shadow. Try it out. You’ll be amazed!
